Professor Miia Kivipelto and Dr Katie Palmer publish a review article on “Trials and Treatments for Vascular Brain Health”
FINGER Brain Health Institute´s founder Professor Miia Kivipelto and Dr Katie Palmer have published an article on “Trials and Treatments for Vascular Brain Health: Risk Factor Modification and Cognitive Outcomes”. The paper has been published in Stroke as part of a special collection “Focused Updates: Brain Health” edited by Steven M. Greenberg.
The article presents evidence from trials of vascular risk factor treatment on cognitive outcomes and dementia. We address whether vascular brain health can be improved through the treatment of antihypertensives, lipid-lowering medications, and diabetes meditations. We also provide an update on multidomain interventions that aim to reduce cognitive decline and dementia, including the FINGER study. The paper can be downloaded here or accessed via the STROKE journal.
