Renewed appointments for Government’s Council on Geriatric Research
The Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs has announced the renewed appointments of all members of the Government’s Council on Geriatric Research (Äldreforskarrådet).
This includes Karolinska Institutet Professors Miia Kivipelto, Professor of Clinical Geriatrics and founder of the FINGERS Brain Health Institute; Laura Fratiglioni, Professor of Medical Epidemiology; and Linus Jönsson, Professor of Health Economics. The Ministry also appointed Mats Thorslund, Professor Emeritus of Social Gerontology, as a new member. This means that the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) of Karolinska Institutet now has four experts on the council.
The Government’s Council on Geriatric Research was established in 2019 to facilitate the communication between the Swedish Government and researchers within geriatrics. The council supports the Ministry with expertise, data, and research updates that help in policy development.
The appointment period runs until 31 December 2024.
