Our warmest congratulations to Malin Aspö for her successful defense of her doctoral thesis “Life changing moments: Transitions and critical points in young-onset dementia” at Karolinska Institutet on 3 May.

Malin has investigated the experiences and transitions of persons diagnosed with dementia at an early age, 49-65, as well as their families. In her conclusions, she points out the need for specific support to this patient group, and for increased knowledge and awareness about dementia in settings throughout our society, also outside the healthcare sector.

The research has been conducted over a period of four years and builds on a series of interviews with those affected.
