FINGERS Brain Health Institute

The FINGERS Brain Health Institute (FBHI) is a non-profit organization founded in 2019. It supports, drives, and coordinates the continued clinical research that builds on the original FINGER study (Ngandu, Kivipelto, et al., Lancet 2015), which showed that multidomain lifestyle factors have significant relevance in the prevention of cognitive decline and dementia.

As a scientific coordinating center for the World-Wide FINGERS network, FBHI supports and connects research teams conducting FINGER-based trials around the world. Since it was established by Professor Miia Kivipelto in 2017, the network has grown to include teams from over 60 countries.

FBHI also develops and manages dissemination and implementation activities, to help ensure that scientific findings rapidly come into use in real-world settings, for the benefit of individuals and societies at large.

The FBHI team includes a core team of multidisciplinary experts and specialists, as well as associated researchers from several European institutes. Operationally and geographically, FBHI is particularly close to Karolinska Institutet and the Karolinska University Hospital in Solna, Sweden.
